The hype surrounding the poison of the Sonoran desert toad Bufo Alvarius is huge: stars like boxing world champion Mike Tyson are crazy about the psychedelic drug and even medicine is interested in the substance that the toad produces in its glands. It is the most powerful hallucinogen in the world and is said to help against depression and other mental illnesses. A multicenter study with 200 treatment-resistant depression patients is now planned, in which the Charité in Berlin is taking part, among others. The CTRL_F reporters Mirco and Jan met US war veterans in Mexico who smoke toad to combat their war trauma.
