In the mountains, a strangely staged body is found exactly on the German-Austrian border. Both countries send their respective investigators. The young commissioner Ellie Stocker from Berchtesgaden is to work with the experienced Viennese detective Gedeon Winter. While Ellie is highly motivated, the cynical Gedeon has lost all motivation for police work. When the press releases a shot of the victim recorded just before the murder, the two investigators believe the killer is pursuing a bigger plan.
