The sex offender Dirk Köster, who was imprisoned for double rape, shoots a law enforcement officer and fled. Inspector Winnie Heller, who has just reported back from her time off, is taking over the case. She receives support from LKA colleague Isabel Voigt, who brought Köster to prison at the time. At the scene of the crime, the investigators quickly discover that Köster had an accomplice. Is the person Koester's partner who still firmly believes in his innocence? Or is there someone else in the background hiding it? While the search for the armed criminal is in full swing, the two police officers have to realize that in this case nothing is what it seems.
