Jack learns Jennifer asked Bill to finance his newspaper proposal and feels betrayed, believing she doubted his ability. He confronts her, moves to the guest room, and leaves her heartbroken. Austin fixes his car and returns to Salem, refusing to take a dive and winning the fight, earning $50,000 to pay his debts. But mobster Gus arrives at Wings seeking revenge. Kim confides her fears to Marlena and urges her to face unresolved feelings for John. John dines with assistant DA Rebecca Morrison, who is prosecuting Kim’s case; their flirting unsettles Marlena as Roman watches. Later, Marlena avoids Roman’s advances, claiming she needs rest. Roman and Bo arrest Tim for running a gambling ring, and Tim threatens to expose his boss unless Austin helps him escape.
