John convinces Roman to let him quietly help investigate Curtis’s murder, certain Stefano is responsible. Kristen refuses to believe him, and though Stefano denies involvement to her, he secretly bribes a cop and hints he’ll leave the hospital. Roman and John find an unfamiliar button near Curtis’s body. Sami panics when Marlena’s blood tests must be repeated, fearing the truth about Belle’s paternity. Stefano overhears Sami and Jamie discussing a secret. Jamie mentions a friend arranging a private adoption. At the nursery, Marlena and Kristen bond over motherhood. Kristen says she wants a baby someday, and Marlena warns choosing a father is permanent. Tom grows irritable, snapping at Sami, Jamie, and Alice. As he walks away from Alice, he suddenly collapses with no pulse.
