Jack confesses to Jo that he unknowingly authorized the toxic dumping that caused Abigail’s illness. Crushed by guilt, he leaves home. Jennifer overhears his anguish and writes a forgiving note, unaware of the truth. At the Cheatin’ Heart, Jack drinks and accidentally reveals his secret to Billie. She later gets a drunken Ivan to admit Vivian and Nikki are hiding at a farm off Highway 72 and passes the info to Bo. Bo and Lexie catch Vivian trying to stow away at the docks. Vivian claims Bo should let her flee so he can keep Carly under arrest to restore her memory. Bo arrests her; she warns Nikki has “disappeared.” Jack returns home, sees a family photo, and writes a goodbye letter. He leaves Steve’s medal with Abigail, kisses Jennifer goodbye, and slips out before seeing her note. Jennifer murmurs “I love you too” after he’s gone.
