Victor visits the unstable Vivian, asking her to stay in Salem and bringing her herbs. Kate and Jack scheme to prevent Victor from acquiring The Chronicle and threaten The Spectator's survival. Kate attempts to manipulate Jack into long work nights, but he prioritizes his commitments to Jennifer and their child. Kate frustrates over his loyalty and recruits Jack to help plan Lucas's 18th birthday party, flirting with him when Victor appears nearby, leaving Jack confused about her intentions. Carrie resolves that regardless of her scarring, her relationship with Austin is over. Austin and Jennifer decide to investigate a prostitution ring operating at a motel outside Salem. Jennifer confides her ongoing sorrow about Carly to Jack at the mall; he consoles her before they head to work.
