On July 4th, the Horton Center opens. Jennifer gets a poor‑connection call from Bill in Somalia about Abby’s medical history and decides to visit her mother Laura in Chicago; Austin goes with her. Kate sneaks into the same facility posing as a reporter. At the opening, Nicholas sabotages the clam chowder with sugar, and Bo finds his fingerprints on the canister. John arrives and pushes Marlena to discuss the baby’s health after her measles exposure, insisting on DNA testing. At the hospital, Marlena draws his blood while Sami secretly watches, unaware of the true conversation. John waits for results. Lucas pressures Carrie about surgery, raising her suspicions. Sami grows increasingly wary of John and Marlena’s private meetings and their hospital visit.
