Jennifer and Jack anxiously wait at the hospital as their daughter Abigail fights a mysterious illness with a low white blood cell count. Jack emotionally distances himself with repeated assurances that everything is "fine," leaving Jennifer unable to share her fears. Austin provides comfort, gifting Jennifer a meaningful music box. In Abigail's room, Jack emotionally breaks down his tough exterior, pleading with his daughter to get well and confessing his love. Jennifer discovers Abigail's fever has brokena hopeful turning point. Meanwhile, John and Kristen share an intimate lake swim at the cabin, but Kristen guards her emotions, secretly hiding a bracelet marked "K.D." from John while he sleeps. Caroline has a concerning episode at the Pub, prompting Carly to insist on a hospital checkup. The show debuts its new title sequence.
