Jack and Jennifer receive exciting news: potential investor Clayton Robards wants to meet about funding their proposal. At the Penthouse Grille lunch, Jack discovers Robards despises Victor Kiriakis, rekindling hope after initially thinking he'd lost the backer. When Jennifer joins them, she charmingly invites Robards to dinner that evening, where he promises to provide his answer. Meanwhile at the hospital, Marlena receives lilacs from Kate and reveals she knew Kate years ago, though she quickly covers by claiming Kate mentioned the flowers at a recent retreat. Lucas delivers the flowers and questions the connection. Austin later speaks with Marlena about Carrie, but Roman's arrival creates tension. Elsewhere, Kate writes Lucas a letter about his (fictional) father's dying wish for him to attend West Point, and she deflects questions about her past with Marlena.
