Reporter Sondra sneaks inside hoping for a scoop. Austin and Carrie celebrate their three‑month anniversary while baking a cake for Roman and Marlena’s surprise party. John prepares to leave Salem on Victor’s jet to escape his feelings for Marlena. Victor urges him to speak to her. Marlena arrives before takeoff, and their confrontation turns emotional. John insists leaving is right out of respect for Roman. Marlena breaks down, confessing she loves him and can’t imagine life without him. Unable to resist, John pulls her close, and they kiss passionately, soon moving into an intimate embrace on the sofa.
