Carrie gushes to Sami about her romantic day with Austin, but Sami suggests throwing a surprise anniversary party for Roman and Marlena. They race around town gathering decorations, with Sami nearly caught by Roman. Jonah plans to hit the clubs afterward. Lawrence and Ivan dispose of incriminating evidence, wrapping something in a rug. Marlena meets Kim, who warns John is leaving because of unresolved feelings between them. Marlena insists he’ll stay, denying any romantic connection, but Kim cautions her. John visits Lawrence to say goodbye, then sees Roman, who thanks him for his loyalty and promises to care for Marlena and the kids. At the pub, John tenderly leaves Brady with Caroline. When Marlena learns John is leaving tonight, she’s shaken. After he ignores her message, she grabs her coat and rushes to his loft, refusing to leave until they talk.
