Carrie and Jesse settle into their new apartment while Marlena encounters Roman at the hospital, where she learns Shawn's condition has worsened. Marlena invites Roman to Carrie's apartment, but he upsets Carrie despite Marlena's warning. Afterward, they attempt to convince the Lombards to help get the kids out of the apartment, but Roger refuses, pleased Jesse is gone. John struggles with Alamain business and asks Mickey to hire Lisanne, hoping her legitimate employment will keep Lawrence in check. Mickey agrees and confronts Lisanne during lunch with Lawrence. When Lawrence discovers she lied about the hiring, Lisanne claims she merely stretched the truth, angering him. Meanwhile, Vivian grows desperate, selling jewels for only $14,000, short of the $20,000 she needs to visit Nicky. She cannot ask Lawrence for the money without revealing its purpose.
