Jennifer struggles with Jack's sudden departure and the financial fallout. She discovers a missing million dollars in stocks that were used as loan collateral, threatening the newspaper's survival. Adding insult to injury, she learns Jack booked ”but never used ”a bed & breakfast that she's now responsible for paying. Despite Maggie's counsel to move forward, Jennifer works desperately to save the paper while dealing with Shane's questions about coverage of Kayla's case. Meanwhile, Kayla remains trapped under Cal's watch while Kim and Shane argue about her involvement with him. Kim devises a plan to use her old radio show to reach Cal. Elsewhere, tensions simmer as Molly becomes jealous of Ginger's interest in Tanner, with Julie defending Molly while Tanner and Hawk discuss the complicated dynamics. Ginger and Hawk clash as various characters navigate their romantic entanglements and personal conflicts.
