On a remote island, two Roman clones fight until Marlena convinces them to cooperate. When guards order one Roman to kill the other and Marlena, he shoots the guards instead, proving loyalty. They decide to return to Salem to uncover who created them after seeing a woman flee by boat. In Salem, Jack delays a getaway with Jennifer under the guise of business, unaware Hawk is conning him to steal his fortune. Jack secretly retrieves his stock certificates while Vern warns him about risking the newspaper. Jack then surprises Jennifer with an elaborate German‑themed evening, giving her a silver locket with their photo. They make love, and Jennifer writes in her diary about cherishing the locket, unaware Jack is entangled in a dangerous con.
