Diana tells Mike she’s leaving Salem for investigative reporting in Washington. Roman overhears, warns her, then gives her ISA contacts. Abe recovers in the hospital with Lexie nearby. Steve and Kayla sleep together, but Steve rejects marriage and pushes her away, even flirting with a waitress to distance himself. Kayla is hurt and confused. Steve secretly keeps the engagement ring and remembers his childhood promise to protect Billy, revealing his turmoil comes from old trauma rather than lack of love.
