Ivy and Jennifer stage Mike’s surprise birthday party, pretending to forget the date. Mike is hurt until the reveal, while Robin quietly gives him her published version of his book. Shawn confronts Bo for leaving Hope and upsetting Caroline. Caroline arrives, shocked they’ve separated. Bo later admits he understands how she once loved Victor, and she warns him Victor has both good and dangerous sides. Roman and Hope chase Gillian’s lead to Harold Parker, find nothing, then receive a note threatening Marlena unless Roman finds the bonds. At the loft, Kayla panics when she thinks Steve has run. He shows her a newspaper naming him as Britta’s murder suspect; she insists Roman will listen, but Steve refuses to trust the system. Roman and Hope return, run into Steve, and a fight breaks out. Steve bolts, and Roman chases him with his gun drawn as Kayla begs him not to shoot.
