Roman and Marlena return home ready to hand the Stockholm case to the ISA, but at headquarters they learn Director Ogden Vaughn—secretly Dr. Vertigo—has withheld the truth: the Stockholm package contained $25 billion in fake treasury bonds needed to prevent economic collapse. Furious at months of manipulation, Roman resigns from both the case and the ISA despite Vaughn’s pressure. Meanwhile, Hope vows to keep searching for Andrew as Shane brings her the file. Kayla gives Steve a new harmonica for Max, sparking a tense but tender moment. Frankie resists sending Max to school until Max melts down and Steve calms him. Kim sees Shane is still fighting for Andrew, while Hope admits she blames Bo for the miscarriage. Bo keeps forcing contact, even carrying Hope out of the loft when she refuses to talk. Abe brings Kim to identify a baby who might be Andrew, but she’s overwhelmed and unsure. Vaughn later tells his assistant they’ll pressure Roman through Marlena if necessary.
