Melissa is shot during the hospital hostage crisis, and Pete crashes through the window to save her, leaving Jen trapped with Slater. Abe and Mike stage a fake surgery to calm him, and Glen ultimately disarms Slater, freeing Jen and ending the standoff. Meanwhile, Steve brings Max and Frankie to Kayla; Max’s fear of touch and burn scars alarm her. Steve distracts him with humour, and Kay plans to investigate the boys’ home life. After Steve leaves, Britta—sick and hiding—comes to Kayla for help, then flees again when Steve returns. Roman finds a burned adoption file with Kim’s forged signature. Shane recalls Emma tricking Kim into signing clinic papers and begins to suspect her. He and Peach track down a wig Emma bought, strengthening the case. Roman later finds Britta on the pier; she collapses in his arms. Mike admits to Robin he feared he’d never see her again.
