Mr. Slater holds Jen and Melissa hostage, demanding a heart for his son. Mike, Robin, Abe and SWAT scramble for a solution while Glen blames himself and Pete panics. The girls stall Slater long enough to get food delivered, and Glen briefly gets inside before being thrown out. Meanwhile, Kayla’s bag is stolen; Steve retrieves it, prompting Caroline to confront him about Andrew’s kidnapping. Steve insists he’s innocent, but Kay remains wary. Later, Steve rescues two boys — Frankie and Max — pulling Max from the lake and rushing him to Kayla, who quietly registers Steve’s unexpected heroism. Inside the lounge, Melissa and Jen create a distraction; Melissa throws hot coffee at Slater as Jen runs. Slater fires blindly, ending the standoff in chaos as the rescue attempt reaches its breaking point.
