Marlena calls Salem to check on the kids and tells her secretary she’ll be away a few days. At the motel, she insists John share the bed so they’re rested for the long drive to meet Dr Peterson. John thanks her; she promises they’ll learn who he is tomorrow. At Jump, Pete is shaken when a registered letter confirms Liz is suing him. Melissa briefly doubts him, but Maggie defends Pete and says Tod’s alcoholism was his responsibility. Maggie also reveals Salem is getting a ballet company—funded anonymously, which Pete realises means Victor. At the hospital, Mike pushes Robin to talk about the mine; she tries to dismiss their connection, but he kisses her before she retreats again. Abe learns the foreman they met wasn’t the real one. In the woods, John and Marlena wait for Dr Peterson, unaware Ingrid is closing in. As John answers the phone shirtless, Marlena sees the phoenix tattoo on his back—and is horrified.
