On the day of the ballet, John snaps at Marlena but later softens and agrees to go. Bo, Hope and Shane worry about the KGB televising the performance; Shane shows Bo the anonymous letter implicating Victor. Doug arrives unexpectedly, helps Hope evade KGB agents, and she heads to Shane’s. Patch drops Britta at the guest house, then joins Bo and Shane under the stage. During the ballet, Marlena’s beeper sends her and John back to the hospital. As Lars takes his bows, Ingrid flanks him. Lars pleads on live TV for Britta to be released; terrified he’ll be killed, Britta grabs Kim’s coat and Hope’s keys and runs to the hall. The coat tears, revealing Caroline’s letter, which Victor receives. Britta reaches the stage, ruining the plan. Abe stalls, Shane drops the lights and smoke, and when it clears Bo and Hope stand in place of Lars and Britta, who Patch has already rushed into the tunnels.
