Karla takes the money from the bank and goes to Carlos's office to pay the rent. Karla appears before Carlos and, with wads of bills, pays the deposit and three months' rent, thus ceasing to be a burden to the mayor of Álamo. Meanwhile, Paz approaches Carola to find out how she feels about everything that happened with her suitor, who abandoned her and broke her heart. During the conversation between Paz and Carola, Carola says she feels like a "freak" or "weird" for pretending to be older; she no longer has friends, suitors, or a normal life. This leads Paz to tell her that it's all due to the contract she signed, a conversation overheard by Laura, who seeks out Carola to learn more about these allegations.
