Altiplano: the living heights of the Andes (2x1)
Staffelfinale
Ausstrahlung: Mär 01, 1985
In 1973, an anthropologist and the church's factory worker lived alone in Isluga. The anthropologist's son was captured by the military. The distraught anthropologist went to the factory worker, who read the coca leaf to him. "Your son is fine," he said, "the birds will let you know when he returns." Shortly after, suris, cometocinos, and woodpeckers invaded Isluga. And the son returned. Ten years later, this story wove the invisible web that unites this documentary.
In the Altiplano, amidst eternal snows, volcanoes, and dry, relentless winds, unique flora and fauna grow, adapted to the altitude, the cold, and the limited oxygen. One human group, the Aymara, has adapted to this harsh environment for millennia. Lauca National Park, Salar de Surire National Monument.
