Festivals held in honour of the deceased are celebrated throughout the Chinese calendar. In Tianshui, locals worship Fu Xi, a legendary ancestor, and pay homage to him in a grand temple ceremony. In Zhejiang, Yan Ting brings his young family back to his old home in Xiao Zuo Village. He carries out a grave-sweeping ritual to honor his ancestors as part of the Qingming Festival. For the Chinese, memories of beloved ancestors are preserved in the hearts of the living.
