Anne experiences her first day at "Green Gables," the farm of her foster parents, and is enchanted by the beautiful landscape. She is particularly taken with the blossoming apple tree outside her window, and she names it "Snow King." But Anne's happiness is still threatened, because her foster parents, the Cuthberts, have not yet decided whether they want to keep Anne.
