The elves cast a spell on all the clocks, causing everyone in the mayor's house to oversleep. This means that the town's merchants are knocking on the door, but Severinsen does not believe them. No one can figure out what time it is, but Mette convinces the mayor to promise a Christmas party. So the elves cast a spell on the clocks.
