The pilot is calling for help: he is running out of fuel. Headquarters Major Nefedov turns out to be the pilot. He's carrying a packet of intelligence gathered along the front lines. He tells Eugenia that her fiancé found himself a PW - a field-field wife. Terentyev finds out about this and, after a second proposal to become his mistress, tries to rape Zhenya.
