On a country road, rescue workers are deployed to help the many victims of a bus accident. Although this is only a full-scale exercise, it is soon discovered that a "breastplate", a fake victim of the simulation, has actually died after receiving a lethal dose of morphine. Who wanted to get rid of this Lyon firefighter who was as heroic as he was exemplary? Wanting to play the role of righting wrongs, this modern-day vigilante may well have paid for it with his life. In the heart of the sappers' barracks or in the middle of perilous interventions, Mongeville and Valentine interfere in the very discreet body of the "fire soldiers" for an investigation on burning coals.
