Judge Mongeville receives a cry for help from Jeanne Marsac, a childhood friend whose husband died under strange circumstances. The police are conducting the investigation under the leadership of Captain Valentine Duteil, whom the judge knows well. Jeanne invites Mongeville to the magnificent property where she lives with her two sons, her two daughters-in-law and her grandson... Their reunion is moving. In the past, they had lived a great and beautiful love story. And then life separated them, and Jeanne married Pierre Marsac who proved to be a tough and authoritarian man. Besides, his death does not trouble anyone in the family. Everything seems to prove that the culprit is a relative. With the help of the funny and sympathetic Captain Valentine Duteil, Mongeville leads the investigation, revealing more or less shameful secrets, resentments, jealousies.
