Founded in 1806 by brigadier Manoel Rodrigues Jordão, considered the greatest wealth in São Paulo due to the "Palácio dos Quatro Cantos", the largest residence in the city at the time. He became the owner of the city that soon earned the name Campos do Jordão (SP).
