Anime adaptions into live action has always been a nightmare for many, the thought of Hollywood butchering classics is the worst of the worst of nightmares. The track record isn't great. So the news of another property getting the live action treatment from Hollywood execs is never great news.
According to reports out of Yahoo! Japan, Eiichiro Oda, the mastermind behind the long running series One Piece is set to sail out of Japan and onto television screens as a live action adoptation.
Tomorrow Studios will be spearheading the project. Tomorrow Studios is responsible for Prison Break and Marty Adelstein who is an executive producer for Prison Break will be behind the project.
Needless to say, this is a gigantic project, there are over 800 episodes on anime for One Piece, and the manga has been running weekly since 1997.
