『十ヶ浜強盗殺人事件』を解決したことがきっかけで、麗子（綾瀬はるか）のもとには何故か探偵の依頼が続々と舞い込んでいた。その応対にうんざりしている麗子を尻目に、自由の身となった篠田（大泉洋）は、この際だからパスポートやマイナンバーカードを申請しようなどと浮かれていた。 ある日、篠田は自身が書いたミステリー小説を出版社に持ち込む。だが、編集者から、中身が古いと言われ落胆してしまう。そんな篠田の原稿に興味を持ったのが、ひょんなことで出会った『ウメ出版社』の車崎透という男だった。喫茶店で篠田の小説を読んだ車崎は、古き良きミステリーの奥に光る新しさがある、と絶賛するが、売るためにはプラスアルファが必要だという。そのとき、客らしき女性が篠田に気づき、十ヶ浜の事件が無実で良かった、と話しかけてくる。そこで篠田のことに気づいた車崎は、「いけるかもしれない」といって原稿を預かる。 ほどなく、篠田の小説が製本されて事務所に届く。麗子に喜びを伝えたくてうずうずする篠田だが、そこに、麗子から電話が入った。これからタヒチに旅行に行くという。すると、麗子を頼って津々井（浅野和之）がやってくる。娘の彼氏と会うことになったが、当日その彼氏が来なかったらしい。しかも、娘だけでなく誰もその彼氏と連絡が取れないというのだ。さらにそこに紗英（関水渚）も現れ、政治家・嶺村信一の事務所から裏金3億円が消えたから助けてほしいと頼まれた、と言い出し…。
